From 1 October 08 changes to tenant management arrangements have made it easier for groups of council tenants to get involved in managing their housing.There are already over 220 tenant management organisations around the country. Evidence shows that standards improve when tenants get directly involved. It can also lead to a greater feeling of community and well-being.
Tenants interested in taking on full management will find the process easier and quicker. It could now take as little as 15 months to set up a tenant management organisation.
Tenants who are new to tenant management can choose to take control of just some services (e.g. grounds maintenance, block cleaning, litter picking).
