Independent Living
At East North East Homes we have developed the Independent Living Team who act as a specialised body for ENEHL for accessing support through needs and risk assessments and safeguarding referrals for our more vulnerable tenants.
The Independent Living Team coordinate support packages with support providers, tenants and professionals. Our aim is to have a consistent approach to assessing and supporting vulnerable tenants within ENEHL.
This is all captured on our vulnerability database which will assist us to accurately monitor all our vulnerable tenants and open support cases which we will review on a monthly basis. The database allows us to profile service users and report on our support and customer outcomes and needs.
The Independent Living Team are at the forefront of cascading relevant information specific to our tenants needs. A few ways that we do this is by community profiling, targeted campaigns in specific areas, posters and newsletters.
We have compiled a support directory which can be accessed through the link on the right hand side of this page.
This is a list of support providers throughout Leeds that cater for a variety of support needs. We endeavour to continually update the directory which means that you should have access to the correct information.
We are involved in various forums where we share best practice and information on projects that are occurring in Leeds. Ensuring that we tailor our service to reflect the wider city objectives. The Independent Living Team also attend tenants forums to listen to concerns and provide advice and support as well as share information about new services that ENEHL intend to implement and listen to feedback.
The Independent Living Team manage the supported housing for predominantly over 60’s or individuals with a medical need where the properties and the service would be of benefit to them. This service promotes independence through support planning and risk assessing providing daily visits from 1 up to 5 days each week. Tenants of our supported housing also benefit from peace of mind that 24 hours a day care ring will respond should you require emergency assistance.
We actively promote and hold events in conjunction with National Older Persons Day. The events are taken to different areas of East North East Leeds each year to ensure that we target a wide selection of people. These events are provided to everyone living in that area who are over 60 even if they are not ENEHL tenants. Partner agencies are invited along to host stalls and distribute information specific to the needs of older people. There is a prize giveaway to the oldest person to attend on the day, entertainment, lunch and much much more.
If you would like to contact us to discuss any of the information provided within the Independent Living Team pages then please call 0800 9151600.
Assessing Vulnerable people through Needs and Risk Assessments
East North East Homes has established a robust needs and risk assessment process which aims to identify people’s needs at the earliest opportunity so that we can access effective support through referring vulnerable people to support agencies to enable them to live independently within the community. East North East Homes Leeds (ENEHL) believes that by assessing needs and risks to vulnerable people at the earliest opportunity it will allow us to put interventions in place to assist safe and independent living.
This supports the wider aim of East North East Homes Leeds to provide community cohesion by facilitating settled and sustainable communities.
We have teams of trained staff who will complete a needs and risk assessment with you at a pre tenancy interview to ensure that we have the appropriate information to support and assist you. There is a tenants guide on the process which will inform you of what to expect at the interview and also where we may be able to support you. Please download the leaflet on the right for further information.
Your support is then maintained through support from your local Housing Support Officer.
If you feel that you would benefit from additional support and would like further information please contact your local housing officer and ask for an additional needs assessment. Telephone 0800 915 1600
