Paying your rent

Direct Debit

The easiest way to pay, no more queuing!

Simply collect or ask for a form from one of our offices, fill it in and send it back to us. You can also download the form from the link at the side. You'll never have to think about it again. You can choose to pay weekly or calendar monthly on the 1st or 17th of the month. We'll tell you about any changes.

Remember Direct Debits are covered by a guarantee from your bank and from us to make sure any mistakes are sorted out.

Over the Internet

You can now pay your rent via the Internet using our Online Payments  page.  It means you'll have to spend less time queuing at your local Housing Office, or for stamps to send your rent through the post.

You can also use this for paying some other bills, including your Council Tax. All you have to do is follow the registration process - you can do this entirely online.

Standing Order

You only need to fill in one form send it to your bank and it's all arranged.

Collect or ask for a form from one of our offices, or download it from the link at the side.

You can use this to pay monthly. Unlike Direct Debit, a Standing Order is an arrangement between you and your Bank. You're in control and therefore need to tell your Bank of any changes.

For details of your monthly payments e-mail us or phone:

0800 91 516 00 or 0113 398 4711

By Phone

If you have a Debit Card you can pay over the phone. Just call your Neighbourhood Housing Office or phone (0113) 395 7100 with your card details. Please remember that if you pay by Credit Card, your card issuer is likely to charge you interest on the amount.

Post Office Girobank/PayPoint

You can pay your rent free of charge at any Post Office and at certain shops that advertise PayPoint. To use this service you'll need a small plastic Swipe Card or your new rent card with the bar code printed on the bottom right hand corner.

By Post

Send cheques or postal orders, made payable to Leeds City Council, to your Neighbourhood Housing Office, quoting your rent reference number on the back. Please don't send cash through the post.

Salary / Wage Deduction

Leeds City Council staff can have their rent taken out of their salary/wage. Please phone:

0800 91 516 00 or0113 398 4711 or contact your Neighbourhood Housing Office for details.

Leeds City Credit Union

Remember... rent first - all year round.  Your rent is due weekly in advance.  If you're paying fortnightly or monthly, make sure you pay on the first week of the cycle so your account doesn't go into arrears.
