Languages - Interpretation and Translation
East North East Homes Leeds wants to make sure that all our services are available to ALL members of the community.
We know that some people may have difficulty accessing our services, for example, getting to our offices or reading information we send in English.
If English is not your first language and you need help, we have an interpreting service to help you.
When visiting our offices
We can provide telephone translations in different languages when you visit our offices. We can also provide face to face translations but we will need to book these in advance.
We can provide written translations in a number of languages and we have information in various languages.
If you make our staff aware of your language needs, they will help you.
When we visit your home
When we visit your home we can provide a translation service by using our mobile phones. You can have a three way conversation so we can communicate with you.
If you let our staff know what language you need they can make the arrangements.
We can also arrange for a translator to visit your home, but again, you need to book this in advance.

ESOL means: English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
Improving your English can help you get more out of your life in the UK. It will also help if you want to study, improve your CV, or apply to become a British citizen.
Improving your English
If English isn't your main language, you can do a course to help you improve your English. These courses are called ESOL or English for Speakers of Other Languages.
Improving your English will make it easier to:
- talk to doctors and teachers
- understand the laws and customs of the UK
- do a course and get a qualification
- help your child with homework
- pass the Life in the UK test and become a British citizen
What does an ESOL course involve?
ESOL courses cover:
- speaking and listening
- reading and writing
- vocabulary
- punctuation and grammar
There are courses at different levels so you'll be able to start at the right level for you.
