As of May 2011, ABS high security lock cylinders will be used as the replacement lock for all ENEHL homes as part of a citywide strategy to reduce burglaries in Leeds.

ABS lock cylinders are recognised as a High Security replacement lock cylinder for Euro profile door locks. The cylinder gives maximum protection against bumping, picking, drilling and snapping methods of gaining entry used by burglars.

The ABS lock cylinder incorporates a key management system that protects against unauthorised persons other that the tenant obtaining keys to the property. Because of this system, a new process is required to ensure that keys for the new locks are registered to the correct property and tenant. Without this process being followed, it will not be possible for replacement keys to be purchased by the tenant.

Where a new ABS lock is installed, there will be no difference in the ordering procedure or procedure for ordering future repairs however, the keys for the property will be registered against the tenant/property in a secure database.

Tenants wanting to purchase additional or replacement keys for their property can only do so through two locksmiths located in the Leeds area. 

To obtain additional keys you need  to produce your rent card and a form of ID at Locksmiths to enable key cutting.

Window Safety Catches:

The majority of windows to our homes are fitted with safety catches to prevent accidental falls.  This is most important to buildings over 2 floors high and in homes where there are children.  Safety catches stop windows opening more than 10cm (4") without having to operate a separate handle, knob or catch.

If your windows don't have the catches on or they don't work properly then please call the Repairs Service so that we can make sure you are safe.
